Description:
Teleoperation is the remote control of robot manipulators. Although commands can be sent from user to remote robot at different levels of abstraction, telepresence describes a further augmentation of teleoperation in which the operator directly controls the motions and contact forces of the remote manipulator in real time through their own body and other senses – hence, haptics becomes a tool. Some applications for developments in this field could include heavy construction machinery, robotic surgery and more.

Quanser’s 5 DOF Telepresence system includes a 5 DOF Open-architecture robot, 5 DOF Industrial-grade Haptic interface device, 6 axis Force-Torque sensor, and integrated linear current amplifiers for instantaneous, yet ultra-sensitive force delivery performance. The controllers for this system are fully open-architecture and you may design and implement any controller desired.
