Our FREE hands-on workshops will be coming to Manila, Philippines on 6 Jan 2017 (Friday). Our workshops provide educators and those involved in research with a valuable opportunity to learn more about COMSOL Multiphysics and its many applications. With a brief introduction and live demonstration, these workshops are designed to cover the fundamentals of modelling simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics. The hands-on portion of the workshop allows attendees to test drive the software by building a model from scratch, allowing each person to leave with the ability to experiment with their own simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics.

These workshops are for the lecturers, researchers and students of universities that belong to the Engineering Research and Development for Technology (ERDT) consortium.

This session provides a general introduction to the key features and capabilities of COMSOL Multiphysics, its range of modules and applications in various engineering fields. You will learn about all the main aspects of using COMSOL, including the fundamentals of multiphysics modeling, so as to help you be confident with using the software to solve simulation problems.

Key contents include:

  • Introduction to physics based modules (electrical, mechanical, fluid flow, chemical)
  • Multiphysics approaches
  • Coupling of different physics
  • Simulation workflow
    • Set up the model environment
    • Create geometrical objects
    • Specify material properties
    • Define physics boundary conditions
    • Create the mesh
    • Run the simulation
    • Postprocess the results
  • Hands-on exercises

Who Should Attend
This workshop is suitable for those who are interested in multphysics modelling, even for those with little or no experience using COMSOL Multiphysics.

This workshop provides an introduction to the chemical reaction engineering simulations, covering the key features in COMSOL’s Chemical Reaction Engineering Module and its applications. You will learn about the modeling of chemical systems primarily affected by chemical composition, reaction kinetics, fluid flow, and temperature as functions of space and time.
Key contents include:

  • Introduction to the physics interfaces in chemical reaction engineering module
  • Application scope and modeling strategies
  • Membrane applications – membrane filtration and separation
  • Coupling of different physics
  • Thermodynamic data
  • Hands-on exercise

Who Should Attend 
This workshop is suitable for those who are interested in multphysics modelling and are familiar with the basic concepts of chemical reaction engineering, even with little or no experience in using COMSOL.

  • These workshops will require you to bring your own laptop. Note that COMSOL version 5.2a doesn’t run on a 32-bit Operating System. Please visit System Requirements to see the minimum configuration COMSOL requires for installation.
